The Richard ‘Decky’ Thomas Memorial Fund

Richard ‘Decky’Thomas passed away of Dilated Cardiomyopathy (a disease that affects heart muscle tissue) in June 2017, aged 29 at Singleton Hospital, Swansea.

To fundraise for the Cardiac Unit in Morriston Hospital in his memory and to raise awareness of Cardiomyopathy, the Decky Memorial Touch Rugby Tournament was set up and has been held annually ever since (except in 2020).

With support from the fundraising efforts the Inherited Cardiac Conditions Service has now become a permanent service within SBUHB.

A dedicated ‘Decky fund’ has been set up in his memory and everything raised will go to support that.

The fund reference is YC27 Inherited Cardiac Conditions (Decky) Fund.
